The Best Anime in Hulu We Should be Watching Now!

We enjoy anime shows in different ways.  The majority choose to watch via free websites and the reason why is very obvious.  Why pay for something you can have for free?  But we can all agree that doing so will not help the anime industry other than spreading its popularity.  I too am guilty of this selfish act.  I really can’t spare a few dollars to pay a monthly subscription to watch anime on premium video-hosting websites like Hulu knowing that there are other important bills I need to settle.  Talk about the dark side of being an adult.  I really envy teens living in first world countries who can buy whatever they want and enjoy other privileges that money brings.  But that’s another story.  Going back to the main topic, paying to watch anime shows is a legit way to give back to their producers and writers.  It’s a way to help them earn and encourages them to do more.  So if you belong to the lucky group of people who can buy the latest iPhone model without even looking at its price tag, then you should not hesitate to subscribe and watch the best anime in Hulu.

There are hundreds of anime titles in Hulu so finding one that perfectly suits your taste might be a bit daunting.  But worry not my rich otaku friend because I created this list of the best anime shows on Hulu especially for you.  Enjoy and I hope you find one that will either rekindle your love for anime or deepen it to the point that you’ll read my other articles and support fellow Otakus!

Hunter X Hunter

This anime show tackles the beauty of friendship and freedom.  It follows the story of Gon Freecss, the son of Gin Freecss, one of the most influential Hunters in his era.  A Hunter is an individual who possesses unique skills which he uses to explore new boundaries in his chosen path.  He can be at the frontier of creating new food recipes or be the deadliest assassin there is.  Gin is an explorer so he left Gon as a child and went on to new adventures as a Hunter. When Gon was old enough, he set off from his home island to be a Hunter and know what makes it worth leaving your only child for.

Attack on Titan

An apocalyptic theme is common in anime.  Even so, almost all the anime shows that chose to follow this common path succeeded in getting enough fan-base to go on for a couple of seasons.  A good example is Attack on Titan.  It was a very popular manga series and its anime adaptation gave way for its fans to even grow by the millions worldwide.  So is it worth the hype?  To be honest, I’m not really a huge fan of Attack on Titan but I watched several episodes with a friend who enjoys it so much.  And I can say that it’s brutal and action-packed.  If you’re into gore, tragic deaths, and unpredictable series of events then this anime show is the right one for you.

Cowboy Bebop

Let’s forget about recent anime shows for now and focus more on their great-grandparents.  Anime shows like Trigun, Voltes V, and Yu Yu Hakusho started it all. But the anime genre was very limited back then.  Most of the anime shows lean toward fantasy were the main protagonists have special powers and need to embark on a dangerous adventure to either save his love interest or free his kingdom from a demon king.  Cowboy Bebop chose to avoid this cliché and told the story of a bounty hunter.  He doesn’t have special powers but his gunslinging skills and laidback attitude easily captured the hearts of anime fans.  If you’re looking for a retro anime that perfectly combined humor and action, be sure to put Cowboy Bebop at the top of your list!

One Punch Man

How powerful do you need to be to finish off every enemy with just one punch?  I don’t really have the answer to this question but you can ask Saitama, the main protagonist of the hit anime how entitled One Punch Man.  So what is One Punch Man all about?  The title says it all.   It showcases the life of a hero who can basically finish his job with just one punch.  He claims that he gained his insurmountable strength by simply doing basic physical training every day.  Like everyone who he shared his story with, I don’t believe it’s all that simple.  It’s more likely that he is not human and carries the blood of an alien race which can be compared to gods.  Watch One Punch Man in Hulu if you want to know more about Saitama and who knows you might think of a better guess than mine about the origin of his power.

Haikyuu!!

Volleyball is a famous sport so I started to wonder several years ago why an anime show based on it was still nowhere to be found.  Is volleyball not good enough?  Well, Haikyuu!! answered all my questions.   It’s an exciting anime about high school volleyball.  It’s realistic unlike other sports anime shows that exaggerate in-game strategies and techniques. You’ll not only enjoy heart-pumping volleyball action but learn interesting ideas on how to play better which you can apply to your next game.   It’s also a perfect anime show to binge on since it already has three seasons and the 4th one has been given a green light.  Every volleyball fan should watch Haikyuu!! and experience their favorite sport in a way only anime can deliver!

Naruto Shippuden

You can’t be called an anime fan without watching at least a single episode of Naruto.  I know the original series already ended and now they came up with a new one that features Naruto’s son but we should never forget that it was one among the few anime shows that started the craze.  I can still remember my friend recommending it to me when I was just in college like it was yesterday but it has been more than a decade now and Naruto has come a long way and managed to influence millions of anime fans across the globe.   If you are among the few who skipped Naruto, particularly Naruto Shippuden for any reason valid or not, now is the time to redeem yourself. Watch it and just thank me later.  It’s one of the best anime in Hulu for a reason.

Fairy Tail

Have you ever wondered how our world would look like if magic exist?  Don’t worry if you lack imagination to picture it all out since that’s why anime shows are for.  One good choice for this purpose is Fairy Tail.  This anime show features the struggles and triumphs of a renowned Magic Guild known as Fairy Tail.  They are often called to do dangerous missions and they never fail to deliver positive results.  This shows how powerful the Fairy Tail members are but what others often fail to realize is that this guild is not just a simple gathering of strong magicians. They are effective not just because of individual strength but mainly due to their teamwork.  Every Fairy Tail member treats their companion as family that is why they never leave anyone behind and would gladly face danger and defy their limits if it would mean saving a comrade and accomplishing the task at hand.  If you’re a fan of anime shows that center on friendship and other good values while offering intense magic battles here and there, Fairy Tail is perfect for you!

My Hero Academia

They say heroes are made, not born.  This famous quote is probably one of the inspirations behind My Hero Academia.  This increasingly popular anime shows follows the journey of Izuku Midoriya.  He is a normal child who like everyone else aspires to be as great as the hero they idolize.  Nevertheless, there is one huge obstacle in front of him in realizing this dream.  He is not talented nor does he have the strong and resilient body heroes normally have.  Any of us would naturally give up in this situation but Midoriya is different.  He has what it takes to be a hero in his own right because of his passion.  He does not take no for an answer and would do anything just to defy everyone’s expectations.  I know you’re rooting for him to be one of the greatest heroes someday and he probably will.  Why not watch his growth from the start?  Watch My Hero Academia now and get on board the hype train along with millions of anime fans across the globe!

Tokyo Ghoul

Can a monster be lovable?  I know it sounds impossible but it is the case with Kaneki, the main protagonist in the hit anime series Tokyo Ghoul.  How did he become a monster?  Is it something activated from anger like other typical anime characters with split personality?  Don’t continue reading if you don’t want to be spoiled.  Kaneki started out as a normal human being.  Ghouls exist in his world and humans are wary of them but Kaneki was living a normal life thinking that being attacked by Ghouls is the least of his problem.  But after several events, Kaneki found himself being attacked and almost eaten by a female Ghoul. He was saved by an unknown person but the cost was severe.  He ended up with Ghoul body parts inside him so he is now half-human half-ghoul.    Can he still live normally despite his unique condition?  Which side should he choose in the battle between humans and ghouls?  There’s no better way to answer these questions than by watching Tokyo Ghoul!  I highly recommended it especially for those who love protagonists who are both compassionate and brutal.

The Devil is a Part-timer!

If you’ve been reading by recent articles, you can attest that I’m an Overlord fan. But before Overlord, my favorite anime series is The Devil is a Part-timer.  For me, it is better even compared to mainstream anime shows like Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece.  And like everybody else, I’m still waiting for The Devil is a Part-timer to be continued.  There are just too many questions left unanswered and interesting plot twists that it has to offer.  So why do I love it so much?  The Devil is a Part-timer! offers a complete viewing experience.  It has action, drama, humor, and even romance.  What else would you ask for from a show to be entertained?  I have yet to find an anime series that entertained me as much as the Devil is a Part-timer did.  Well if you have recommendations please do share them in the comments section below.  Who knows you might have encountered a rare gem that I skipped for some reason.  And I’ll be sure to thank you in my next post.

To some, watching anime is a complete waste of time.  I advise those who think this way to ease up on the criticism and don’t judge the hobby without even trying it.  No matter what you guys say, watching anime is fun for me and my fellow Otakus.  And what else do we seek in this world other than happiness?  We have different ways to have fun and it just happens that watching anime is what gives us joy and excitement amidst this chaotic and often depressing world.  To all my Otaku friends out there, don’t let others stop you from doing what you love.  As long as you do it in moderation, you’re completely fine.  Remember that anything, how beautiful it might be, if done in exaggeration can lead to negative consequences.  As always, don’t forget to give this article a LIKE and continue to SHARE THE ANIME LOVE MINA!

Ryuk Costume from Death Note

Recommended for: Men or women who are a bit tall and won’t mind having a lot of makeup or paint applied to their face

Props you need: An apple, a death note replica

Ryuk is the death god partner of Yagami Light, the main antagonist in the anime series Death Note.  He dropped a Death Note in the real world out of boredom and that’s how he crossed path with Light.  Ryuk is known for his slender body and scary face.  He likes to tempt Light in making rushed decisions especially if it’ a matter of who lives or not.  Cosplaying Ryuk if done right can easily make you the star of any Halloween party especially if most of the partygoers have at least a little anime background.  And it’s not that hard to pull off a Ryuk Cosplay.  It’s all about having the body that matches his.  The makeup can be done by simply copying his noticeable facial features in the anime while his clothes can be bought online or you can make with some pieces of black cloth and black dyed feathers for the shoulder design.

Here’s the best Death Note notebook complete with the feather found online.

Orochimaru Costume from Naruto Series

Recommended for: Naruto fans, snake lovers, people who are thin and has pale skin

Props you need: huge viper replica

I’ve seen a lot of villains after years of watching anime shows but none really scared me like Orochimaru.  His overall appearance is something you only see in nightmares.  Paired with his disturbing abilities and pet snakes, he is surely one of the most intimidating antagonists in the anime world.  He is the perfect cosplay subject for Halloween particularly for those who really want to scare their friends and younger siblings.  For me, he is the male version of Sadako.  Sadly, achieving his look can be a bit tricky.  First, you need to be thin and pale to make it happen.  Second, you need to wear his costume which is something you can only get online or made by a skillful dressmaker.  Lastly, you need a couple of snake dolls to complete the look.  The cute ones are not good.  You need the dolls to be as realistic as possible so anyone would instantly recognize you as Orochimaru.

Orochimaru is once a member of the Akatsuki so this Akatsuki cloak could take your Orochimaru cosplay to the next level!

Ainz Ooal Gown Costume from Overlord

Recommended for: Overlord fans, skeleton lovers

Props you need: Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown replica

If you have read a few articles I’ve posted here, you can easily tell that I’m a huge fan of Overlord.  I never fail to mention it every time I come up with a list and I can’t help it since it’s a really good novel/.manga/ anime show so please bear with me.  Ainz Ooal Gown is a unique lich not just because he is way more powerful than the others but because he is originally a real human player.  He was transported to a world similar to the game Ygdarasil after its servers were terminated.

Ainz is your best choice this coming Halloween if you want to gather attention since Overlord is one of the most famous anime shows today.  There are a lot of Ainz Ooal Gown cosplay Halloween costumes sold in online anime shops today so you don’t have to worry about what to wear to achieve his look.  His infamous staff might be harder to get but you can either make it on your own or visit a crafts shop to seek help from experts who can assemble a replica for you.

Ai Enma Costume from Hell Girl

Recommended for: little Asian girls with black hair, petite women

Props you need: straw voodoo doll

Many find Japanese girls wearing their school uniforms cute and lovable.  But this perception can instantly turn upside down if the same girls are the stars of a horror movie.  There is something eerie about having almond-shaped eyes, long black hair, and a really pale skin color that made Japanese girls very scary.  You can portray as a ghost Japanese girl but you can up it a notch by becoming Ai Enma.  She is the main protagonist in the anime series Hell Girl.  This anime touch will not only make your look scarier with the added voodoo doll but can also open opportunities to meet fellow anime fans and enjoy the Halloween party even more.

This Ai Enma Anime Halloween Costume is a must-grab!

Koro-sensei Costume from Assassination Classroom

Recommended for: Assassination Classroom fans, those who won’t mind wearing a huge headwear, teachers by profession

Props you need: graduation cap

Teaching is not just a profession; it’s a passion and a life-long commitment.  This is why I really admire people who devoted themselves to teaching not because they were left with nowhere to go or pressured by family and friends to do so but because it’s what they really dreamed of since childhood.  If you’re a teacher and is confused about what to wear this coming Halloween, then consider Koro-sensei.  He shares the same passion as you in spite of being a villain.  He is both cute and scary.  You need to wear a huge headgear to complete his look which can be a bit exhausting but it’s totally worth it especially if the event is a school Halloween party and all of your students will be coming.  They’ll surely be surprised!

This Koro-Sensei Cosplay costume is the only one you’ll need!

Shishio Makoto Costume from Samurai X

Recommended for: Samurai X fans, those who love Japanese Samurai culture

Props you need: Katana replica

I’ve grown up watching Samurai inspired anime shows but none can match the excitement and drama that Samurai X offers on the table.  Despite its old animation techniques, it’s equally enjoyable and mesmerizing as compared to anime shows that are recently made using 3D animation and new rendering techniques. In fact, I prefer how anime is done the old way.  Though the effects are not flashy, you can clearly see the effort invested in making every frame of the animation.   Shishio Makoto is the main antagonists in Samurai X.  His duel with Kenshin Himura is regarded by anime as one of the best sword fights in anime history.  Showing up as him this coming Halloween will surely surprise your friends.  He is quite popular not only among avid anime fans so you’ll surely gather a lot of reactions.  And the best part of all is that his look is not hard to achieve.  You just need a few bandages since his body is all burnt in the anime and a traditional Samurai Kimono.

Don’t settle with an incomplete Shishio Makoto look.  Add this samurai training sword in your arsenal!

Jellal Fernandes Costume from Fairy Tail

Recommended for: Fairy Tail fans, young boys

Props you need: purple hair wig

Halloween is that one special day of the year where people dress up to be scary.  Many would wear Halloween costumes of famous monsters like Dracula and the Big Foot. But why would go with the flow if you have the freedom to be different?  A Jellal Fernandes cosplay is a good option for those who have the same outlook in life as me.  Don’t get me wrong, he is also a villain but not the scary type.  He has a charismatic aura and often wears a pretty robe which makes him look dignified and proud.  As long as you have the body type that matches Jellal, cosplaying him is a great way to make this coming Halloween a more memorable one.

Looking for a legit Jellal Fernandes Cosplay Costume?  This one will end your search.

Recommended for: Full Metal Alchemist fans, those who don’t mind wearing a bulky costume

Props you need: None

Want to win the prize in having the best Halloween costume?  If your aim is this big then think about cosplaying Alphonse Elric.  He is one of the main protagonists in the anime show Full Metal Alchemist.  He is basically a tin man and has been in this form after a failed alchemy.  Achieving his look is very challenging because you need to wear full body armor.  Its design is not that complicated but doing it on your own will surely require a lot of time and effort so I suggest you buy the entire costume or hire someone who is more knowledgeable and experienced in creating cosplay costumes to get the job done.

If you are full metal alchemist fan, this cosplay costume would definitely fit your taste.

Himiko Toga Costume from Boku no Hero Academia

Recommended for: Boku no Hero Academia fans, young playful girls

Props you need: a small knife replica

Himiko is a psycho.  That’s how simple it is yet she has an unexplainable charm which makes her very lovable even though she is on the side of evil.  You have two options if you want to cosplay Himiko.  First is her plain school girl look.  This is easier since all you need to do is wear a plain Japanese schoolgirl uniform and a wig which matcher her hairstyle and hair color.  The second one is her villain look which is a bit more complicated.  I see her as the little girl Bane, from the Batman franchise, since they wear similar masks.  You also need to copy the gas canisters found on both sides of her head.  It won’t be easy but once done, you’ll surely be one of the scariest and at the same time lovable attendee in your upcoming Halloween party.

Rei Miyamoto Costume from High School of the Dead

Recommended for:  Women who don’t mind showing a bit of skin

Props you need:  Rifle replica, Blonde long hair wig, blood prosthetic (optional)

The creation of High School of the Dead Season 2 is probably one of the most famous petitions in the anime community today.  This is not a surprise at all since its first season was very successful and managed to attract millions of fans worldwide.  Rei Miyamoto is one of the main female protagonists in this anime show.  Fans of HOTD love her because she is both feisty and sweet.  She cares a lot about her friends and would do anything to save them from a horde of zombies even at the expense of sacrificing her own safety.  Although you should consider dieting before

This product is still untested but I haven’t found a tested one so might as well give it a try and share your feedback to all of us.

Alucard Costume from Hellsing Ultimate

Recommended for: vampire and guns enthusiasts

Props you need: Red hat, round eyeglasses, fake cigarette, two handguns

Alucard is basically a vampire Vash Stampede.  But unlike the comedic and merciful Vash, he is serious and very brutal especially towards other vampires who target innocent people.  He is the perfect choice for people who can act tough and proud since these characteristics are necessary to complete the Alucard look.  His clothes might be a bit tricky to do yourself but you can always hire someone to make it for you or buy them online.  A black long hair wig is also a good addition but it’s not a must.  Just be sure to mess up your hair during the Halloween party to at least make it look closer to the real deal.

Be the vampire slayer you wish to be with this Alucard Costume and it comes with the glasses and gloves!

Mayuri Kurotsuchi Costume from Bleach

Recommended for: Bleach fans, people who work in the medical field or those who love science

Props you need: katana replica, a purple headgear

Mayuri is by far the creepiest Bleach character to the point that anyone would assume that he is an antagonist at first glance.  Nevertheless, Mayuri is in the side of justice and the welfare of the Soul Society.  It may not look like it but he hates senseless killing.  He defends this way of thinking by pointing out that every pointless death is a wasted experiment specimen.   Portraying him can be quite challenging because of his weird attitude but it’s doable if you just put your mind to it and carefully observe his interactions in Bleach.  A lot of Mayuri Kurotsuchi cosplay costumes are sold online nowadays so you don’t need to worry regarding that matter and his makeup can also be easily copied even without the help of an expert.

This Mayuri Kurotsuchi costume sold online has some bad reviews but the issue is basically all about sizing so just make sure you measure your body well before deciding what size to order.

Hisoka Costume from Hunter X Hunter

Recommended for: Hunter X Hunter fans, clown lovers

Props you need: a deck of cards

I have a love and hate relationship with Hisoka.  In some episodes of Hunter X Hunter, he became Gon’s ally and helped him overcome challenging adversities.  Nevertheless, he always does something cruel from time to time which reminds us that he is naturally merciless and evil. Cosplaying Hisoka during Halloween is a great idea because he is a very well-known anime character.  I’ve even found several lists online which said that he is among the most famous villains in the anime world.  Hisoka’s clown costume can be purchased online but you can also make one on your own.  But what really makes a good Hisoka cosplay is not wearing the best cosplay costume but how you interpret his sly and playful attitude.  He also has various famous poses in Hunter X Hunter so be sure to memorize all of them so you can use them in event photos.

Check out this Hisoka Costume! I know it lacks reviews but the seller already sold other costumes with good reviews so I guess it’s safe to say that you can order this one worry free.

Rory Mercury Costume from Gate

Recommended for: Gate fans, Lolita fans, those who love wielding huge weapons, petite girls with long black hair

Props you need: a huge scythe

A cute little girl and a huge scythe may seem like a weird combination but it works. And this has been proven by the growing popularity of Rory Mercury, one of the main protagonists of the hit anime series Gate.  Rory is feared in her world and is even regarded as the God of Death and Destruction.  Nevertheless, she acts based on what she perceives to be just.  She may be cruel but every action she takes even those that involve killing can be justified.  Buying her costume online including the huge ribbons in her hair can be done easily online.  But this does not go true with her infamous scythe.  I think the best choice is to make it yourself.  It’s not that hard since you don’t really need to make it really big but just a few inches about your head. You can make it out of cardboard so it’s light and easy to carry.  Just seek help from a friend who knows how to paint to add the finishing designs on the blade and you’re Rory Mercury Scythe is ready to surprise everyone in your upcoming Halloween event.

This Rory Mercury Costume is pricier than other competitors but it’s complete with accessories and the seller has a good reputation so it’s the best choice if you ask me.

Props you need: Dragonball scouter replica

Being vertically challenged is not always a bad thing.  You may not be first picked in basketball games with your friends but it’s your time to shine this coming Halloween by slaying Frieza cosplay costume.  Frieza is one of the most famous villains in the Dragonball Series.  He is known for being powerful and cruel but later on, had a change of heart in the recent Dragonball Super Arc where he became Son Goku’s ally in the battle royal which decides the fate of our universe.  You have two options in cosplaying Frieza.  The first one is buying or making a full body costume which comes with a tail and headgear.  This is an expensive yet cooler choice.  The second one is done by using body paint.  More effort and creativity is needed for this to be successful but it won’t be as expensive as the first one.  Whichever of these two you choose is totally up to your budget and personal preference.  As long as you put your heart and mind into achieving the complete Frieza look, you’ll be just fine!

Dragon Ball Z Frieza Costume

Recommended for: Inuyasha fans, those who want to be unique and standout

Props you need: katana replica

Naraku is the sly and cruel mortal enemy of Inuyasha in the anime series of the same name.  His main goal is to be the strongest demon and rule over the world.  He thinks of no one as a friend and would do anything to acquire insurmountable power.  But unlike other villains, Naraku is quite fashionable.  He has an attractive appearance too which makes it creepier every time he shows his vile smile.  Cosplaying Naraku for a Halloween party is a great idea as long as you are willing to invest both money and time in it.  Since his clothes are intricate, you’re better off buying one online than making the whole set on your own.  His weapon of choice, the katana, on the other hand, can be easily done by either using wood or cardboard.  Be sure to look out for Inuyasha cosplayers during the Halloween party and ask for an epic collaboration photo!

This samurai cosplay costume should be enough as your dress to look like Naraku.  All you need to do is do something about his baboon pelt.

Donquixote Doflamingo Costume from One Piece

Recommended for: One Piece fans, those who want to wear something colorful during Halloween

Props you need: eyeglasses shaped like a leaf, pink fur coat

You don’t need to wear all black on Halloween.  There are anime characters out there that are scary even though they wear colorful clothes and one of them is Donquixote Doflamingo.  He is a warlord who strives on wars as he is a supplier of guns, newly developed weapons, and even cursed fruits.  Doflamingo is proud of every evil thing he did and would not even think twice about doing them all again if needed.  He has no sense of guilt even when slaying innocent bystanders so you should not be deceived by his colorful outfit. Despite all these bad things about Doflamingo, One Piece fans during the Halloween party you plan to attend will surely swarm you if you decide to cosplay him since he is a quite popular anime character.

Be as cool as Doflamingo with this pair of glasses that look just like what he wears in the anime series!

Escanor Costume from Seven Deadly Sins

Recommended for: Seven Deadly Sin fans, muscular men

Props you need: Escanor’s sacred treasure replica

Do you work out?  Are you planning to show off your hard-earned muscles this coming Halloween?  Then you should think about cosplaying Escanor. He is one of the most loved characters in the hit anime series Seven Deadly Sins.  Escanor is not a monster nor is he a villain but his tremendous power is scary. There are only a few things needed to make a good Escanor look.  One is a bulky and toned body. Another is a mustache.  I suggest you go with the fake one since growing a mustache requires a lot of time and it will give you a pedophile look if you don’t handle it well. Haha Lastly is a pair of torn jeans.  Get these things right and you’re Escanor look will be ready to slay any Halloween party!

Show them how much you love Escanor by wearing his symbol!

The alien planned to fully take over his body but Shinichi noticed the weird phenomenon just in the nick of time which left the alien trapped in his hand.  To look like Shinichi, all you need to do is wear a suit and create an alien hand using a glove as a base. You can also purchase premade migi, Shinichi’s alien partner, replicas sold online if you really want to get Shinichi’s look as close as possible and you won’t mind spending a bit more to make it happen.

Mumen Rider Costume from One Punch Man

Recommended for: One Punch Man fans, teens, bicycle riders

Props you need: mamachari bicycle

A hero riding a bike is a laughable scene to some.  But this is not true for those who know Mumen Rider.  He is the weak yet unyielding hero in the anime series One Punch Man.  What makes Mumen Rider special is his never-give-up attitude.  He knows he is weak yet he strives to be a hero and help those who are in need as much as he can.  Mumen Rider is the perfect anime character to cosplay if you want a unique theme and one who comes with an inspiring story. We have enough of those scary monsters costumes and I think what we need nowadays is a Halloween costume that can motivate people.

A mumen rider cosplay costume from a reliable source seems to be still rare these days so I think you don’t have a choice but to make your own.  Good luck to that and more power! I know you can do it! This shirt though is a good source of inspiration.

Top 10 Anime Villains We All Love to Hate

Almost every credit for the success of an anime series is given to the main protagonists.  Although it’s true that anime characters like Naruto, Son Goku, and Monkey D Luffy gather the most fans because of their lovable appearance and unique personality, it can’t be argued that their villain counterparts play a huge role in molding them into the characters we all enjoy to watch. Can you imagine Naruto without Pain and Uchiha Madara?  Will he become the strong and competent Hokage he is now if they were not there to test his limits?

The best protagonist can’t exist without an equally good antagonist.  And the best anime antagonists deserve all the praise they can get for playing a crucial role in the success of the anime series they came from.  The anime villains featured below are the best I’ve found after being an anime fan for more than a decade now.  All of them annoyed me at one point yet I appreciate these antagonist anime characters as they made their respective anime shows unpredictable and very exciting to watch.

1. Yagami Light from Death Note

What if you’ll be given the chance to control someone’s death by simply using a notebook?  Death Note revolves around the story of Yagami Light and other chosen people who were bestowed with the cursed notebook used by Death Gods.  It started just because a Death God was bored and interested in humanity’s limitations.  Yagami Light responded by killing convicted criminals around him and he acted as the new face of justice.  He is a top student in his class and even considered a genius so it was not hard for him to understand the situation and come up with ideas on how to fully utilize the cursed tool he acquired.  He is acted both as a protagonist and antagonist in this anime show.  Whether you’ll see him as a villain or not depends on which perspective you’ll look.  Somehow, he provided a direct path in punishing wrongdoers but the fact that he has the ability to kill anyone in an instant makes him a grave threat to humanity.  Are you a fan of Yagami Light and his perception of justice?  Or do you believe L’s reasoning that our current world is not ready for his idea of justice?  Leave your thoughts in the comment section below!

2. Don Quixote Do Flamingo from One Piece

Monkey D Luffy’s dream of becoming the pirate king is slowly turning into reality.  He managed to acquire a strong and loyal crew.  The straw hat crew started their journey in the grand line with hopeful spirits but they were clueless back then about the enemy they’ll face outright.  He is one of the most corrupted members of the Shichibukai, Don Quixote Do Flamingo.  For his clan, he is the reliable leader who would do anything for the sake of family and to be a step closer to his ultimate goal.  He cares less even a country is destroyed as long as his plans succeed.  To many, he is the reincarnation of the devil himself and is the root of their suffering.    Even the government is afraid of his twisted personality.  He thinks no one as his ally and would turn his blade to anyone who blocks his path regardless of their affinity.  This is why Monkey D Luffy and his paths crossed.  They are destined to fight to the death because they carry opposite morals and effect to the people around them. Do Flamingo strives in destruction and betrayal while Monkey D Luffy fights for new beginnings and loyalty.

3. Hisoka from Hunter X Hunter

Clowns are often seen in birthday parties entertaining children and making sure they leave the event with a big smile.  But even though they dress up to look as colorful and funny as possible, many still fear them.  Some consider clowns as their greatest fears and this is not just applicable to children.  This fear most likely stemmed from famous horror movies and TV shows which feature a killer clown as the main antagonist.  Hisoka from Hunter X Hunter is one of them.  Despite being an antagonist, he is surprisingly very popular.  He’s definitely evil but there are several points in the anime series where he helped Gon and Killua, the main protagonist of Hunter X Hunter.  Although his intentions in doing so are crooked, he still manages to assist them during dire predicaments which makes it hard to entirely hate him.  But don’t be too comfortable around him because Hisoka is merciless and would kill anyone including the ones he considered allies in the past just to satisfy his craving for a good fight.

4. Shishio Makoto from Rorouni Kenshin

Many would easily forgive after being wronged but not Shishio Makoto.  To his defense, the government which he loyally served all his life betrayed and treated him like trash so his vengeance can’t be considered unjustifiable.  He was killed and burned to hide government secrets as they try to transition to a new era of peace.  However, they fail to consider the resilience of a man who has survived countless death battles.  Shishio came out burnt and in the process gained the ability to conjure fire which he can use to heat up his weapon. He can also overheat if used in excessively so it’s basically a double-edged weapon.  After being burnt, his role as the government’s assassin was given to the young and naïve Kenshin Himura.  They did almost the same acts for the government but followed different path afterward.  The two of them cut their ties from the government after realizing that their actions were pointless in attaining real peace.  However, Shishio decided to take matters into his hands and create a government that follows his ideals while Kenshin wandered and chose a peaceful way of living away from the sword.

5. Toguro from Yu Yu Hakusho

What is true strength?  Is it the ability to overpower anyone that challenges you?  Or is it measured by how you protect the weak and be irrepressible even against a mightier foe?  Toguro sees optimal strength as his sole goal in life.  He wants nothing other than to be the strongest.  This caused Toguro a lot including his only comrade who treated him more than a friend but a true brother.  He crossed path with Yusuke and his friends when he was acting as a bodyguard for a wealthy underground businessman who kidnapped Yukina, Hiei’s sister, for her crystal tears.  Yusuke somehow defeated Toguro with the help of Kuwabara during their first encounter. Nevertheless, it can’t really be counted as a win because Toguro was going easy on him and the outcome was what his employer wants. Their second meeting is in an otherworld martial arts tournament.  Can Yusuke defeat Toguro if he decides to go all out?  If you’ve never watched a single Yu Yu Hakusho episode then you are surely missing half of your life as an anime enthusiast!

6. Team Rocket from Pokemon

Villains are expected to be ruthless and cunning.  They are merciless and relentless in coming up with evil plans to either defeat their rival hero or finally attain their most coveted goal; world domination. However, this is not applicable to Team Rocket particularly one of their teams composed of Jessie, James, and Meowth.  It is a huge organization which aims to abduct Pokemons and uses them in wrong doings but this team is so bad in their job that they’ve never won an encounter against Ash and his friends even though they’ve been pursuing for several years now.  Their failures are the main source of humor in the anime series.  It’s entertaining to see Team Rocket blast off every time they are defeated but sometimes I feel bad for them.  They do deserve credit for not giving up after countless futile efforts.  And I know every Pokemon fan would agree that the Pokemon anime series won’t be complete and will never achieve the fame it is enjoying today without the quirky and funny Team Rocket.

7. Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord

You might be wondering why the main protagonist of the anime series Overlord is included in this list but please hear me out first.  Despite having a good sense of justice, we still can’t deny the fact that Ainz is an Overlord.  His character is the manifestation of evil and is designed to hate the living.  Of course, he is a villain but he turned out to be a special one because he is a former human being.  All of his subordinates are clueless about his situation and all they see is the mighty Momonga who rules all the supreme beings so they expect him to be wise and evil.  He saved a couple of humans along the way but his subordinates only see such actions as a way of showing mercy towards inferior beings.  Ainz also lost a lot of his humanity including the ability to experience intense feelings and the need to sleep and eat.  He became a monster not just in the outside but also inside as he does not feel even a little remorse after killing humans given such action comes with a justifiable reason.

8. Hao Asakura from Shaman King

Brotherhood is supposed to be eternal.  Brothers should not fight but instead, support each other.  Yoh Asakura harbors no ill feelings toward his brother Hao Asakura.  Nevertheless, he simply can’t work together with his older brother as he plans to rule over the world after acquiring the title “Shaman King”.   It is the ultimate dream of every Shaman across the world so everyone is aiming for it with the help of their respective guardian spirits.  Hao, the current “Shaman King” is merciless and will easily let his Spirit of Fire consume anyone who would dare cross his path.  He also managed to gather strong subordinates making it harder for Yoh to stop his wicked plans.  Will Amidamaru, Yoh’s guardian spirit, be strong enough to match Hao’s Spirit of Fire?  Can their duo achieve what is thought to be close to impossible, subdue a Grand Elemental Spirit?

9. Sosuke Aizen from Bleach

The most dangerous villains are not those with inhuman strength or speed but those who are wise and tricky.  These villains carefully lay out their plans and make sure they would succeed in the end regardless if certain parties try to stop them or not.  Sosuke Aizen belongs to this rare breed of villains.  What’s more disturbing is that apart from being clever, he is also strong enough to become a Captain of Squad Five.  Ichigo and his gang were left clueless as Aizen’s plan went forward from one phase to another.  They only realized that they were all dancing in his palm when it was almost too late.  It took Ichigo’s final Shinigami form to defeat Aizen and he had to sacrifice every ounce of his power to do so.  After their match, Ichigo was left without any spiritual power turning him into a normal human being.  This only proves how powerful and dangerous Aizen is.  He cornered Ichigo in a tight spot.   Although Ichigo’s appearance in the Shinigami world was a part of his plans, it ended up as its major flaw because he never thought about the possibility of Ichigo becoming strong enough to defeat him.

10. Pain from Naruto Shippuden

It is said that pain shapes us.  It brings out the diamond hiding within all of us after we overcome it through sheer will and the help of people around us who truly care.  But it does not go towards a positive outcome every time.  There are also some cases where pain leads a person to the brink of disparity until he loses hope and succumbs to darkness.  This is what happened to Pain.  Jiraiya, his previous master, tried to save him but it was already too late. He lost every reason to live after witnessing the death of everyone dear to him.  Jiraiya was not there to save them so he also held an irreversible grudge towards the only person who tried to reach out to him.  It’s truly a sad story but Naruto simply can’t leave Pain be just because of all the sufferings he had to endure.  Naruto needs to stop Pain from destroying Konoha.  Pain believes that doing so would make him feel better as he considers Konoha as the main reason for his sufferings.  Despite Pain’s inclination to evil, in the end, Naruto managed to reach the innermost of his heart.  Pain realized that the people who are suffering from his actions has nothing to do with what happened to him before and agreed to undo the destruction and death he caused at the expense of his own life.  Is he truly a villain or just another victim of the world’s cruelty?  Leave your thoughts in the comment section below!

Other Villain Characters Worth Mentioning

Majin Buu from Dragonball Z

It’s hard to hate on someone who is chubby and cute.  But the Dragonball Z world was left with no choice when Majin Buu was summoned and he started destroying one city after another.  Son Goku was not ready to fight him back then because he was still dead so the world was left in the hands of Vegeta, Son Gohan, and the rest of the Z fighters.  They were easily defeated by the seemingly indestructible Majin Buu.  He might act like a spoiled child but his power is the real deal.  Gohan was trained by the Great King Kai to surpass a Super Saiyan but it was still not enough.  It was only until Son Goku and Vegeta worked together when they got a fighting chance against Majin Buu.  The Kid Buu appeared and trapped the fat Buu inside him.  When Son Goku’s Spirit Bomb, carrying the power of everyone on earth, killed Kid Buu, Majin Buu was released and they spared him.  He became the new member of the Z fighters and for me, it’s a really good bargain.  As a villain, he is merciless and dangerous because he can’t be killed but as an ally, he is loyal and very dependable.

Kureo Mado from Tokyo Ghoul

Monsters should be hunted and killed.  Anything that is a danger to humanity should be eliminated at once.  This is the mindset of the people behind the Commission of Counter Ghoul.  They are tasked to investigate cases of Ghoul attacks an act accordingly.  Hunting Ghouls is a very dangerous way of living so their best agents are equipped with high-tech weapons known as quinque.  Kureo Mado is one of their most renowned members.  He successfully hunted down even the most dangerous ghouls with his wits and fighting prowess.   Mado might act and look weird but his subordinates respect him.  He is so dedicated in eliminating Ghouls to the extent that it has become an obsession.  Age and sex won’t matter to him when it comes to Ghouls.  He seems them equally as monsters that should be killed on sight without further negotiations.  Kureo Mado was killed by Touka when he tried to sneak an attack towards Hinami, the daughter of the Ghoul he killed in cold blood.

Naraku from Inuyasha

Is immortality really a gift or a curse? What’s the point of living forever if you don’t have anyone to spend all this time with? These questions are irrelevant for Naraku, the rival of Inuyasha.  He is among the many yokais who was born from the human, Onigumo.  He is the one responsible for the death of Kikyo and the seal placed on Inuyasha.  He desires the Shikon no Tama, a jewel which could make him the most powerful yokai.  Throughout the anime series, he raced with Inuyasha in collecting the shards needed to form the jewel.  He successfully completed it later on but he was slain by Inuyasha right after.  He transformed into his real form and gained the power he long wanted but his selfish purpose and lack of trustworthy allies made him weak.  His failure is a reminder for all of us that no man, or in his case monster, is an island.  No matter how rich, powerful, and influential you are, these advantages will always fall short against the existence of real friends and family when it comes to being happy and successful in life.

Titans from Shingeki no Kyoujin

Science is both amazing and scary.  History has already proven that scientific breakthroughs are not just limited to technologies that are beneficial to all humanity.  Remember the Atomic Bomb?  Science paved a way to its development and it wiped out an entire city in just a few seconds leaving thousands dead and millions sick.  This is very similar to what happened in Shingeki No Kyojin.   The only difference is that the experiment gone wrong in their situation does not involve bombs but oversized humans who developed an insatiable desire for human flesh.  They were referred to as Titans and ever since then humanity has been fighting them off with tall walls and military forces specifically trained to go up against them.  These giants are formidable opponents not just because of their size.  A few rare ones also have the intellect that can match humans.  They are also very agile.  One wrong move and you’ll end up inside their belly in an instant.  Topped up with their weird body proportion and scary faces, the Titans definitely deserve a spot in this list.

Ryo Mashiba from Hajime no Ippo

Intimidation is a crucial skill in boxing.   Mastering it would make it easier for a boxer to close in an opponent and chop off a huge chunk of his confidence especially during the early rounds.  And it does not really require a huge body and a scary face to be good at it.  The main ingredients to have an intimidating presence as a boxer are attitude and confidence.   But I’m no expert so maybe there are more.  If you’re really interested in this aspect of boxing, you should meet Ryo Mahiba.  He is the second formidable opponent Ippo Makunouchi met next to Miyata, his rival.  Ryo’s intimidating presence stems from his desperation to win.  He can’t afford to lose because his sister depends on him.  He is also willing to do even the nastiest tricks in the books just to grab the win making it seems like is nothing more than a ruthless and merciless wild animal inside the ring.  It’s different from his sister though.  She sees his brother as a hardworking man who sacrificed everything just to make a living and support her.

Judar from Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

It is said that your childhood shapes you and all the experience you’ll gather when you’re just a kid will affect your overall personality as you grow up.  Judar is a living proof that this is true.  He had a dark past but managed to get out of it and became one of the most powerful Magis in his generation.  The bad experiences he had to endure and his absurd ice magic made him arrogant.  He is the type of person who would not mind killing bystanders during a fight or using innocent people in his plans. Judar is a villain any hero would not want to face.   But is he beyond saving?  Like everybody else, there is still hope to redeem Judar.  Deep inside him is a boy who simply wants to be cared for and loved.  He might violently deny this but Judar’s only wish is to have comrades to fight along with as well as something precious that is worth protecting with his power.  Once led towards the right path, Judar has the potential to be a loyal and trustworthy ally.

Zeref from Fairy Tail

How can I disregard Zeref Dragneel, the most powerful and evilest Mage in Fairy Tail, while making this list?  He is Natsu Dragneel’s big brother and mortal enemy.  For Zeref, Natsu is nothing more than a tool which can free him from a sad and lonely life brought upon by his cursed body.  His powerful and destructive magic and spread death to everything around him in an instant.  He is so powerful that entire guilds fear him while others who are a bit daring exclaim that they are willing to do anything just to make him their ally.   Zeref’s duel with his brother Natsu is one of the best fight scenes in Fairy Tail.  Since Natsu will suffer the same fate as Zeref, our beloved mage is basically forced to sacrifice his own life for the good of all.  To the eyes of his friends and guildmates, it’s a battle that would lead to no other path than seeing their comrade die.  How can Natsu get out alive from this ordeal?  Will Fairy Tail’s firepower be enough to stop Zeref and his plans to end an era? You should start watching Fairy Tail now if you want to catch up to the hype!

Gin from Detective Conan

Shinichi Kudo is always vigilant against the syndicate who is responsible for turning him into a kid.  The organization boasts a wide influence scattered across the globe and their operations vary from manufacture and distribution of illegal drugs, smuggling and dealing of guns, and even assassination.  Gin is one of their most loyal and influential high-ranking executives.  Despite his rank, he makes sure crucial missions are done smoothly by personally leading his men on the field.  He is skilled in both armed and unarmed combat.  But probably the most dangerous thing about him is his wit.  Gin easily evades police traps and thinks several steps ahead while strategizing.  These are the reasons why even the genius Shinichi Kudo can’t catch him or gather enough information about his origin and the current structure of the organization.

Sea King from One Punch Man

Saitama is unrivaled in almost every aspect as a superhero and is considered as the most popular bald anime character by far.  He is super fast and ultra-strong.  Inflicting damage on him if ever you land a lucky punch is seemingly impossible.  If it does happen, it’s a good idea to immediately check the hand or foot that landed the blow because it will be most likely injured.  That’s how tough Saitama is.  Nonetheless, he still comes with several flaws and one of them is the inability to fly or teleport to a location he desires.  This gave Sea King, a strong monster who claimed to be the most powerful creature living beneath the sea, enough time to wreak havoc in the city and injure several heroes who responded first.  Zenos, Saitama’s disciple, was one of them.  As an advanced battle android, he managed to fight toe-to-toe with Sea King for a while but it was completely over when the latter decided to get serious.  He can turn a droplet of water into a bullet-like projectile weapon by simply flicking it.  He is also fast enough to out-run escaping heroes and has the strength to mow down cement walls with a single punch.  But is he a formidable foe for Saitama?  Well, the answer is obvious but I don’t want to spoil the show even more so why not watch One Punch Man?  I guarantee it’s definitely worth your time!

Tomura Shigaraki from Boku No Hero Academia

There are several types of villain anime characters.  Some specialize in pressuring the protagonists with a huge army which they can order to attack at will.  Others work alone but boast superior strength and other special abilities which make it almost impossible for the main character to win a duel against them without the help of trusted allies.   A few rare ones only rely on their wit and have little to no power on their own.   This type of enemy is the hardest to deal with in my opinion. Tomura Shigaraki belongs to this rare breed.  Yes, he has the ability to decay anything he touches and has boosted strength and speed but these abilities fall short compared to strong professional heroes in Boku No Hero Academia.  What makes him truly dangerous is his ability to command his allies as their leader and strategize.  He has no qualms about killing the innocent and involving them in battles just to gain the upper hand.

Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti from Re: Zero Starting Life in Another World

What if you accidentally take the life of the most special person in your life?  Would you ever forgive yourself? This is the predicament that caused Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti to lose his mind and turn wicked.  He had a tough and gentle look a hundred years ago but everything flipped when he accidentally killed Fortuna with the use of Pandora’s Power.  The pain was too much for him to bear and now he has become an active member of the most feared Witch Cult.   They met path with Subaru, the main protagonist in the main series, and he managed to kill Subaru and even infiltrated his body.  It took everything going perfectly before he and his crew successfully defeated Petelgeuse.

Nobuyuki Sugo from Sword Art Online

Love is patient and kind.  The definition if far from how Nobuyuki Sugo thinks of love.  He is the main antagonist in the hit anime series Sword Art Online.  After defeating the final boss, Kayaba Akihiko, Kirito woke up after more than a year of being trapped inside the game.  He immediately searched for the real Asuna but was confused and worried when he found out that she did not wake up like him and the rest of the players.  He did his best to solve the puzzle and was able to find hits of Asuna being trapped in another game.  And he was right. All along, Asuna was being held captive by Nobuyuki Sugo, the man his family wants her to marry.  He plans to further develop the game and weaponize it.  And it’s up to Kirito and his new allies to rescue Asuna and stop Sugo from starting another Virtual Reality nightmare.

Seijuro Akashi from Kuroko’s Basketball

Basketball is a team sport.  No matter how good you are, winning without the help of your teammates is impossible.  But this common thought can be argued if we talk about extremely talented individuals like the captain of the famous generation of miracles, Seijuro Akashi in the famous sports anime Kuroko No Basket.  He is the one who thought most of the generation of miracle members their abilities and his leadership ability is at the level of professional basketball players.  He plays basketball not per quarter but as a whole.  Against him, it would seem that everything that will happen in every ball possession is going according to his plan.  And if by anyway something unexpected happens, he can easily carry the whole team with his own superior scoring and defensive skills.  Seijuro gave Kuroko and the whole Seiseki Team the hardest time in their basketball life as they all need to play at their best in order to stand a chance against his team Rakuzan High.

Hendrickson from Seven Deadly Sins

It’s ironic to see a holy knight being corrupted.  They are supposed to be the protectors of peace and justice.  Nonetheless, in the anime series Seven Deadly Sins, they are cruel and unreasonable.  Hendrickson to be specific turned to his demonic powers just to achieve his selfish goal which is to rule over the land along with the Holy Knights.  Mediolas and his group suffered a lot of loses just to subdue Hendrickson in his demon form.  But this is a far cry from his personality way back when he was just a loyal knight of the kingdom.  He always scolded his comrades who are slacking and is also extremely loyal to his masters.  He is gentle, respectful, and just.  But people change right?  And sad to say, his change leaned toward the bad side.  Do you know someone close to you who undergone the same change?  Have you tried urging him to come back to the right path?  Share your experience in the comment section below!

Azami Nakiri from Food Wars!

How far would you go to achieve perfection in cooking?  Azami Nakiri took it to the next level by conspiring with top chefs and selfishly deciding for his subordinates.  He was once the director of Totsuki Culinary Academy after manipulating the Elite Ten back then to oust his own father-in-law.  Everyone hates him including the wealthy owners of famous culinary businesses.  And this is not surprising because only a few understand and accepts his meaning of culinary perfection.  He cultivated God Tongue through abusive means despite the fact that the guinea pig is his own daughter, Erina.  This goes without saying that he only thinks of her daughter as a tool for him to achieve his selfish goals.  As a result, Erina developed a rooted fear towards him which she struggled to overcome.

That’s a wrap!  Did you like the list?  Do you also think that anime villains should be credited as well?  They truly make the anime series more fun and exciting.  The stronger and eviler the villain the better, right?  Or do you have better anime villain characters in mind?  Don’t be shy and share your thoughts in the comments section below!  Who knows you might convince me to tweak this list and of course give you a shout out for coming up with an awesome suggestion.

Top 10 Coolest Anime Boys with White Hair

Anime characters come in all shapes, sizes, and color.  Yet it’s expected for anime characters to have black hair since it’s what Japanese are usually born with.  They might be not well-represented in terms of number but anime boys with white hair does not disappoint in terms of look, personality, and overall charisma.  In fact, many would agree if I say that they are usually the anime characters with dark secrets, hidden powers, or bizarre personalities which made them very fun to watch.  Have you just been starting to watch anime and haven’t seen a lot of white-haired characters?  Look nowhere else since this article is the right place to be! Read further and get to know the coolest anime guys who looks cool in their white hair you’ll ever find.

Sebas Tian from Overlord

What separates men among boys?  Well for me, it’s all about attitude. Although he is worthy of being a part of this list, I can’t really say that Sebas Tian from Overlord can referred as a boy.  He is far too gentle and wise to be called one yet his charm and looks can easily surpass those who are several years younger.  Sebas  Tian is the loyal butler of Ainz Ooal Gown.  He was designed to be nothing more or less but he eventually inherited the passionate and merciful heart of his creator.  This was manifested when he got out of his way to save a dying girl in the street even though it would compromise his mission.  Being a gentleman alone makes him worthy to be a part of this list.  Counting his stunning looks, manly posture, and outstanding martial art skills makes it unquestionable.

If you got interested with Sebas and wants to know more about other characters in the same anime series, click here : Complete List of Overlord Characters

Killua Zoldyck from Hunter X Hunter

There are only a few anime characters who are as well-loved as Killua Zoldyck from Hunter X Hunter.  He is one of the sons of a well-known assassin family. He is one of the cutest white haired male anime characters, but also one of the deadliest.

His adventure in the series started when he met Gon during the Hunter exam.  This boy is not like the usual assassin.  He is not emotionless and would never kill in cold blood.  Killua is a complete opposite of his other brothers because he values family and friendship.  His strong dedication in protecting the innocent Gon made him more like a brother towards him than a simple friend.  If you’re look for an ultimate bromance experience then you should watch Killua and Gon’s wild adventures!

Ken Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul

A world where humans and ghouls coexist would sound absurd for anyone.  Yet, Ken Kaneki considers this scenario as his dream.  He was once a normal human but unpredictable series of events turned him into a half-human and half-ghoul. People around him think of ghouls as nothing more than wild monsters who treat humans as food.  But Kaneki, through his unique condition, is able to understand both sides.  There are also ghouls who mean no harm and only seek for a place to belong in the community.  As the story progresses, Ken Kaneki’s point of view regarding ghouls changed and he began his journey towards realizing his seemingly impossible dream, a world where humans and goals can live together peacefully.  This white-haired dreamer might turn from a charming young lad to a ruthless beast through his ghoul form in a split second but his admirable and equal compassion towards both man and ghoul should be enough to land him a spot in this list.

Kaneki is not only charming but considered as a hot anime guy as well. Aside from the physical aspect, this is also because of his character and actions. There are many events in the anime series where fans have seen this feat as well.

Gin from Gintama

The perfect combination of anime and humor is a dish only a few anime shows was able to pull off.  One of them is Gintama where the lead character is a samurai-wielding man-for-hire called Gin.  He is the founder and active leader of a company composed of only three individuals who are willing to do anything for a price as long as it does not go against their morals.  Whether it’s a rescue mission or a simple household chore, Gin and his gang will happily help you out.  But don’t let his laidback attitude and funny facial expressions fool you.  Gin is a skilled and well-known swordsman.  His companions also have several tricks in their sleeves that can help them escape dangerous situations and even capture notorious criminals.  A list of the coolest anime characters in white hair is definitely incomplete without Gintama!

Soul from Soul Eater

Soul is not the average battle junky.  He may look like one but he actually came from a wealthy family of musicians. Soul was frustrated after failing to live up to his family’s expectations so upon discovering his weapon heritage, he did not hesitate in joining DWMA to prove his worth.  Soul has a laid back personality and would prefer doing everything in a cool way than do his best and look bad in the process.  But his attempts to be cool backfire in most occasions.  One of his friends even describes him as careless and arrogant as he tries so hard to look cool.  There are a lot of hilarious scenes in Soul Eater that can attest to this but before you criticize his clumsiness and foolishness, be sure to appreciate how he usually ends up saving the day for everyone.

Ja’far from Magi:  The Labyrinth of Magic

Do you have a best friend?  Someone who is always by your side through thick and thin?  Consider yourself among the luckiest persons on earth.  It’s envious to be Sinbad from the anime series Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic not just because of his position as king but also for having loyal right-hand, Ja’far.  He was forced to become an assassin and kill his own parents at a young age. Sinbad became his savior as their paths cross and from that day onwards they became allies bound by loyalty and friendship.  Ja’far is a friend anyone would love to have simply because he is willing to sacrifice everything just to guarantee his friend’s well-being.  He might have a sincere and calm attitude but Ja’far is always ready to bring out the hidden rage in him whenever the situation dictates.

Isana Yashiro from K

The world has several faces.  For people who are living in peaceful and prosperous lands, the world is teeming with reasons to smile and be hopeful for a better future every day.  On the other hand, for those who live in warring countries, the world is dark and a hopeless place.  No one wins in a war.  This message has been spread worldwide in various mediums even in anime.  Among several anime shows that aim to pass this idea to its viewers is K where Isana Yashiro plays the lead role.  In this anime show, he is a scientist and researcher whose main goal is to stop war through science.  His thought was transferred to the body of a young boy before he could do so and that’s how his struggles to return to his former body and form a world of peace started.  Who could not love this peace-loving, kind, and handsome white-haired anime boy?

Haise Sasaki from Tokyo Ghoul

Quiet and reserved persons are prone to having hidden evil personalities or dark origins.  This is why many are reluctant about loving ominous anime characters especially if they are introduced early in the show and various questions about where they came from and how their personality developed remained unanswered.  But don’t worry too much if we are talking about Haise Sasaki from Tokyo Ghoul.  For starters, he is one of the main protagonists of the anime show so expect him to be on the side of justice.  He may not be a fan of justice and doing good acts for the sake of others but he is true to his words.  He is also a dependable ally.  Haise started as a character with unreadable personality.  It can even be said that he was designed to be an enemy but rollercoaster of events turned him into Kaneki’s ally.

Zen Wistalia from Akagami no Shirayuki-Hime

Every girl anime fan has already imagined their favorite character as a knight in shining armor riding a white horse approaching towards them. This sweet moment is every woman’s dream and it can be made sweeter if the one playing as prince is the real deal like Zen Wistalia from Akagami no Shirayuki-Hime.  He is the main hero in the anime show. Zen may not be the first prince but he is more suitable to be king than anyone in their kingdom.  He is kind-hearted, witty, brave, and strong.  These traits alone should be more than enough to capture any woman’s heart. His handsome face and white shiny hair completes the package turning him into the ideal anime boy character every girl fan is dreaming of.

Top 10 Most Badass Bald Anime Characters of All Time You Should Never Piss Off

Long hair is often incorporated with power.  It dates back from the legend of Samson and Delilah to the current anime hero Son Goku. Things changed when bald anime characters became popular due to Saitama.  These famous imaginary pop culture characters suggest that you’re expected to have greater power the longer your hair is.

But in reality, having a fancy long hair is a huge disadvantage in a fight.  Your enemy can easy pull it and gain control over your upper body. Long hair can also block your view and they easily strangle greatly hindering your mobility.  Despite these truths about having long hair, why do we lack famous anime boys with short hair or bald heads?

It’s clear that if not for the recent appearance of Saitama, bald anime would have been easily left less represented.  If you curious whether Saitama is alone as a strong anime character then read through this list and get to know the rest of them.  You’ll be surprised that you haven’t noticed some of them even though they belong to famous anime shows like Bleach and Dragonball Z!

Master Roshi from Dragonball Z

Son Goku would never become the famous hero he is today without his pervert yet capable master, old man Roshi.  He is the genius behind Son Goku’s famous final move Kame Hame Wave.  Although most of his appearances in the Dragonball Series  is filled with perverted humor, Master Roshi in serious mode is not someone you should trifle with.  He can easily transform from a flimsy and thin old man to a bulked and strong warrior in a matter of seconds.  In his battle form, Roshi can vaporize a mountain using his famous technique and keep up with younger and agile opponents in close combat.  There’s no better way to start this list of the most badass bald anime guys of all time than with Master Roshi from the Dragonball Series that started the worldwide anime craze!

Krillin from Dragonball Z

Dragonball Z features a lot of bald anime characters so we can’t mention all of them in this list.  I intended to have only one representative for every anime show but an exemption can’t be helped if we are talking about the greatest sidekick in the history of anime, Krillin.  Although he is not bald all throughout the Dragonball series, Krillin’s signature appearances happened in his usual hairless look.  Despite his petite body, he excels in martial arts and easily became the strongest human in Dragonball Z.  As a member of the Earth’s protector, Krillin usually finds himself in a tight spot against formidable alien invaders.  He sacrificed his life a couple of times for the common good of all proving his innate courage and resolve in saving earth and everyone dear to him in it.  Hi selflessness alone makes Krillin worthy of having a spot in this list.

Ikkaku Madarame from Bleach

Samurai warriors are known for their impeccable swordsmanship and just principles.  Various history books feature photos of them with tied up long hairs while wearing fancy robes. They are swordsmen who really more on agility than power in delivering blows.   Their graceful techniques are said to be so beautiful to watch enough that they can be considered as art.  Their interesting look, demeanor, and fighting style  are the main reasons why samurai warriors have inspired several famous anime characters today.  One of them is Ikkaku Madarame from Bleach.  Although he is not the main protagonist in the series, he has a huge fan base because of his crazy battle scenes and outgoing personality.  He is one of the best representations of the Samurai warriors from the past everyone loves and respects minus the long hair because he is bald.  Does a bald samurai who fears no one not even death belong to this list? Of course!

Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender

How would you react upon knowing that everyone in your clan including the people who raised you were killed?  Would you be brave enough to stand up once more and save the world just like what is written in the prophecy or would you succumb to the depression and pressure of bearing the weight of such a heavy responsibility?  Moving on after the death of a loved one is never easy.  This is why any bald character who managed to do so should be a part of this list.  Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender did not just accomplish such kind of feat but also mustered enough strength to save the world from the evil plans of the Fire clan along his recovery process.  He sure looks and acts like a kid but he never fails to step up and save the day every time it mattered most.

Naomichi Yamada from Hajime No Ippo

Boxing is an unforgiving sport. Punches thrown in the ring pack enough power to disable an opponent for the rest of his life or in worst cases take his life.  This is why professional boxers all agree that stepping inside the ring for a fight is like dancing a tango with the death god himself.  The known risks makes boxing even more entertaining because no one knows what will happen after the ring bells. Anime shows inspired by boxing like Hajime No Ippo used this unpredictability and all the dramas associated with the sport to gain millions of fans across the globe.  There are several anime characters in the series who are bald but the one that left a huge impact is Ippo’s student Naomichi Yamada.  He started out as a shy and obedient boxer who has nothing but will and determination to cope with his lack of talent.  Surprisingly, after leaving the Kamogawa Gym, he climbed his own way up the ladder and manage to contend Ippo’s title.  He lost but it was not something to be ashamed of. Ippo acknowledge him not just as a friend and apprentice but as a strong boxer after the fight so there’s no way I’ll finish this list without Naomichi.

Major Louis  Armstrong from Full Metal Alchemist

As you are walking along a dimly lit and secluded alley, you came across with a tall man with bulging muscles and a menacingly serious look in his face.  How would you react?  You should immediately turn around if it’s a person other than Major Louis Armstrong from Full Metal Alchemist.  This personality greatly contradicts his physical appearance.  By a single glance, anyone would incorrectly assume that he is a single-minded warrior who thinks of nothing but besting an opponent through brute strength.  On the contrary, Major Louis Armstrong is a friendly and just practitioner of alchemy.  He may resort to violence at times but only in dire and unavoidable situations. This strong but disciplined bald warrior deserves not les s than everyone’s respect and a spot in this awesome list!

Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop

In every anime series, there will always be a war-veteran type character who will become the lead character’s master or father figure.  This odd ball will guide our hero towards greatness by sharing life lessons and even imparting a few of his own secret fighting techniques if needed.  Such kind of role is embraced by Jet Black in the classic anime series Cowboy Bebop.  He is the outgoing and capable captain of the Bebop and led the gang in their bounty-hunting escapades.  Jet was once a criminal investigator and earned the nickname Black Dog in the process because of his stubbornness in chasing down criminals.  Several years after and due to unforeseen events, he became a bounty hunter and partnered with Spike who also became his close friend.  This badass bounty hunter should be a part of any list that highlights bald characters in the anime world!

Doppo Orochi from Baki the Grappler

There are millions around the world who watch anime shows to rediscover the beauty of love.  Anime shows like Sword Heart Online and Fruits Basket are among the favorites in this genre as they feature cute and lovable couples.  Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean that anime is just for little girls and hopeless romantics.  In fact, anime started out as a venue where mind-blowing fight sequences that are impossible to replicate in real life happen.  Son Goku being thrown hard destroying huge boulders along his path after receiving a devastating hit from his enemy is just one of them.  And if we talk about brutality in fight scenes, only a few anime titles can even equal Baki The Grappler.  Its story revolved around a young man who fights his way to be the strongest in the world even if it would mean overthrowing his own father.  Among the many bald, strong and wild characters in Baki the Grappler, Doppo Orochi stands out.  He is Baki’s mentor and friend who greatly helped in developing his skills so he can at least put up a good fight against his father and be a little bit closer to his dream.

Hanzo from Hunter X Hunter

Samurai’s were mentioned earlier so it would be disrespectful if no anime character who resemble their counterpart, ninjas,  is included in this list.   There are several famous anime ninja characters but the decision is a landslide once I remembered Hanzo from Hunter X Hunter.  It’s almost impossible not to love this character because of his laid back personality.  But don’t even think of underestimating this fellow as he can turn serious and deadly in a split second.  Ninja’s in the past handle dirty works like assassination and it also goes true with Hanzo.  The only difference is that this character treats justice and morality before anything else.  This unique trait coming out from ninja who are expected to be emotionless in carrying out their jobs makes Hanzo even more reputable.

Saitama from One Punch Man

Last but definitely not the least is the one who made bald anime characters famous again, Saitama from the hit anime series One Punch Man.  He is the lead character of this anime series and as the title suggests, he can eliminate his enemies even the godly strong ones in just a single punch.  He is the epitome of over powered characters to the extent that it’s not even funny anymore. You can either hate or love him for having absurd strength but you can’t help but do the latter as the series progresses.  Even though he became the strongest man in the universe by far through basic exercises, it never went to his head.  He remained living in his simple apartment while saving the day without attracting the world’s attention.  Saitama is the character everyone including those who have long beautiful hair should look up to!

Are you thinking about getting haircut after getting to know all these badass bald anime guys?  Hold your horses yet because their greatness is far beyond hairstyle of choice.  Before making a drastic decision, honestly do a self-assessment first and you might discover several things about you that can be improved without doing something crazy like shaving off your hair.  Have I missed out the bald character you admire the most? If yes then that’s weird since I’m pretty sure I have mentioned the best ones I could find.  Well, try to prove your point in the comment section below and describe the anime character who you think is a good fit in this list.  As always, SHARE AND SPREAD THE ANIME LOVE MINA!
