10. Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu

Aired: April 6, 2019 to June 22, 2019

Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu

Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu anime is all about friendship. So there is no surprise why it made it to our list of a slice of life anime. The story revolves around Bocchi Hitori who only has one friend. Unfortunately for her, they won’t be attending the same middle school. Though getting friends is an easy task for most people, its a different case for Bocchi. She experiences a nervous breakdown in different social situations even the common ones. Under social stress, she would vomit or pass out. She is certainly in for the biggest challenge of her life, but still, she is determined to befriend her new classmates.

The same as with real-life scenarios, even though how positive you are in most cases, things would not go as planned and its the same for our main character. However, slowly but surely she started gaining friends. She is still afraid of most social confrontations, but at least she now has people she could call friends.

Hitori Bocchi’s, Lifestyle is an anime that best represented life in the eyes of a high school student who is not that good with dealing with people. It shows the struggles and also the triumphs that come with these experiences.

9. Given

Aired: July 12, 2019 to September 20, 2019

Given is about a group of guys in a band with their lead singer Mafuyu Satou. Their group started when Satou met Uenoyama by chance at school. Though Satou goes around with a guitar, he doesn’t know how to play it. Due to their new friendship, Satou met Uenoyama’s bandmates and he was though how to play the guitar. And upon hearing him sing, Uenoyama is determined to make Satou their band vocalist.

This anime is not just your typical band group story. It’s a show that showcases the emotions of the main characters and the struggles they have to go through. It is great to slowly see the different characters of each member of the band as the episodes progress. Everyone is compelling and interesting in their own rights.

8. Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita!

Aired: January 8, 2019 to March 26, 2019

Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita!

Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita! is the story of a college student Miyako and her quest to get closer to Hana who is her sister’s classmate. At the beginning part of the anime, you will immediately realize that its story is related to the relationship between an adult and a child. Now don’t overreact yet since compared to other shows with a similar story, this one is mild. Plus, there are other parts of the story that are also interesting.

Even though Miyako likes her sister’s classmates especially Hana, we should not forget that she is actually a shy person and prefers to be alone than with a group. The unique relationship between Miyako and the other cute girls in this anime gives it a unique and fun touch. Aside from the obvious story of a grown woman having her eye on a child, the anime also captures some real-life situations of friends who just wanted to have a good time doing various activities.

Overall, the anime is still entertaining and isn’t that bad especially for an anime with a slice of life theme.

7. Beastars

Aired: October 10, 2019

The very first thing that you will notice in this anime is its made up of animal characters. You might think that it’s a childish show, in this you’re totally wrong. There is more than what meets the eye. Beastars has a serious story of what a person would go through when growing up. But, in this show, the feelings are portrayed by human-like animals.

The main characters of the story are Legoshi – a wolf and Louis a deer. It’s interesting to see how these two would live together considering the nature of Legoshi – a hunter animal. And in general, you’ll uncover the issues of the society where carnivores and herbivores live together.

One thing I like best about this anime aside from its story is its uniqueness – there is a touch of high school life drama and mystery as well. It starts out as an anime with a light story where you see all these animals living harmoniously. Until you’ll slowly be presented with the dark side of things.

6. Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue.

January 9, 2019 to March 27, 2019

Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue tells the story of a unique relationship between a human and a cat. Both are blessings to each other. The name of the human character is Subaru Mikazuki and the cat was named Haru. If you are a cat lover, you’ll surely appreciate this anime. The story shows how miserable life is when you are alone. However, there are people who are actually living this kind of life, like Mikazuki. Good thing he met a cat that changed his life.

In real life, if we could not find a company in other people, getting it from pets like a cat is also a good option. The challenge here is how Mikazuki could take care of his pet considering that he had been alone all his life. Is he capable of taking care of a cat?

My Roommate is a Cat is considered by many as the purest anime of 2019. It’s really a charming and heartfelt anime.

3. Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san

Aired: April 10, 2019 to June 26, 2019

The Helpful Fox Senko-san

Kuroto Nakano, one of the protagonists in the anime does not anymore live a normal life due to his workload. He always comes home at night riding the last train. Due to too much workload life for Kuroto has become very tiring – not to mention he receives no overtime pay and few holidays. The lack of rest is affecting him a lot. His life turned 360 degrees upon meeting Senko who is a girl fox demon. Her role is to bring back Kuroto’s life and in general make things better for him.

We all would love to have a Senko in our life. Someone who could help us with the burden we carry and remind us that we also need to take care of our self. We need to enjoy life.

Watching this anime would make you think and pause for a while about how your job is affecting your life. It might not be to the extent of what our main character is experiencing but his situation is easy to grasp. Surely, if you do not experience it you know somehow who is overworked and have literally no time to enjoy life. This is the reason why it’s easy to sympathize with Kuroto.

The Helpful Fox Senko-san is an anime that will surely hit you in the core especially if you are a working professional. It’s really easy to like this show since its sweet, emotional, relaxing and fun to watch.

2. Mob Psycho 100 II

Aired: January 7, 2019 to April 1, 2019

Mob Psycho 100 is lauded for its originality and it continues to soar high since its first season last 2016. Now on its 2nd season, it is still as weird yet wonderful as the first.

The protagonist of this anime series is Mob who is an introvert full of anxieties and insecurities in life. This is the reason why a lot of viewers can relate to his character. Like the usual teenager, he wants to be fit so he could be noticed by the girl of his dream. And is doing his best to deal with his shyness. The only difference Mob has with other normal guy is his powerful psychic powers. He is capable of making things fly with just a flick of his fingers.

For season 2, it focuses more on school-based issues and the more human side of the show- like Mob making new friends. So expect it to be more emotional and you could easily relate to the emotions of the characters.

Aside from the slice of life theme of this anime, it also has a unique taste of comedy and jaw-dropping action scenes. The fight scenes are even more emphasized with better anime quality – sharper and fuller. If you have watched the first season, you will not regret spending time watching season 2.

1. Fruits Basket 2019

Aired: April 6, 2019 to September 21, 2019

Most anime fans have watched Fruit Baskets before and that was many years ago. It got re-animated this year 2019 of course with the same story. Though it might be less interesting to watch it again since you already know the story, it’s still worth the time to check it out with better animation. It still is a big hit today as it was in the year 2001.

The story centers on Tohru who lost her mother and her life became miserable because of it. Until she ended up meeting the Souma Family. As she continues to live with them, she slowly discovers the secret of the family. Fruits Basket has been known to be dramatic and heart-wrenching since you will feel the difficulties that Tohru and the Souma Family experiences.

With the new animation, the anime now has a more mature feel which somehow worked perfectly for today’s audience. It still has the same cute story and a lot of us are looking forward to what would be the continuation of their story.
